Specialized Testing New Smaller Version of 29er Rim

MORGAN HILL, CA (CN) – Specialized is always pushing the limit and toeing the edge of technological development when it comes to new cycling and mountain bike products. Just outside their Morgan Hill facility members of our special ops editorial staff were able to snap this photograph of Specialized’s newest 29er rim – code named the ’29-3′. Sources deep within the walls of Specialized’s home base have reported to Chamois News that this new rim uses similar technology to the existing high-end Specialized 29er rims that can be found on many 2011 Specialized mountain bikes but is about three inches smaller in circumference. Specialized expects the ’29-3′ rim’s technology to perform better in tight terrain and provide a nimble handling experience when compared to the existing 29er rims. At Chamois News, our feeling is the ’29-3′ could open up a whole new category of mountain bike wheels and will perhaps set a new industry standard.
