Cyclocross Worlds to Feature Ring of Fire Jump

KOKSIJDE, BELGIUM (CN) – Cyclocross has been increasing in popularity for years. This year’s World Championship course in Koksijde, Belgium is expected to have increased excitement due to the addition of a new Ring of Fire jump placed in the already dangerous and challenging course. Each lap the riders will test their handling skills, endurance and bravery by launching their bikes through an eight foot flaming loop located on the north side of the course. Marc Madison, a representative from the UCI was quoted as saying, “We were going to add a shark tank jump but the logistics and expenses were too difficult to overcome. The Ring of Fire jump was the next best idea we had”. One cyclcorcross rider was overheard  as saying, “It is just like any other jump except it is on fire and you could die.” We expect equipment advancements due to this new change. We believe Asbestos/Lycra speedsuits and fire-retardant tires are just around the corner.
